nim 'white' (from earlier nimf, nimp) in Nimbrethil, Nimloth, Nimphelos, niphredil(niphred 'pallor'), Barad Nimras, Ered Nimrais. The Quenya form was ninque;thus Ninquelótë=Nimloth. Cf. also Taniquetil.
